Picasso Museum Málaga

The Picasso Museum Málaga is housed in the 16th-century Palacio de Buenavista, a Renaissance building that also contains significant Phoenician and Roman archaeological remains beneath its foundations. Established in October 2003, the museum is Andalusia’s most visited museum and serves as a key cultural landmark in the city. It displays 233 works by Pablo Picasso, spanning his career from 1892 to 1972, arranged across 11 rooms. The collection offers a comprehensive look at the artist’s evolution, though it is important to note that the famous Guernica is not housed here; it is located at the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid.

Visitors can explore the museum daily, with opening hours generally running from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. During the summer months of July and August, hours extend to 8:00 PM, while in the winter months of November through February, the museum closes at 6:00 PM. The museum is closed on December 25, January 1, and January 6. On Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, and Epiphany, reduced hours apply, with closing at 3:00 PM. Free admission is available on Sundays during the last two opening hours of the day.
