The Monastery of Sant Pere de Galligants in Girona, Spain, is a significant 10th-century Benedictine site renowned for its Lombard Romanesque architecture. Located at Carrer de Santa Llúcia, 8, the complex features a 12th-century church with a basilical plan, three naves, and massive forms characteristic of the style. Visitors can observe unique sculptural details, including capitals in the central nave and cloister, such as a distinctive two-tailed mermaid. The site’s layout is unique, with rooms arranged in a separate building rather than around a traditional cloister, a design influenced by the now-dry Galligants stream.

Today, the monastery functions as the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia, housing artifacts from the Roman and Medieval periods. The adjacent church of Sant Nicolau serves as an exhibition room, complementing the historical experience. The site has a rich history, having served as a Civil Guard barracks before becoming a cultural landmark. It is also notable for its appearance as the library in the television series Game of Thrones, adding a layer of pop culture interest for some visitors.

Practical information for travelers includes specific opening hours: from June to September, the site is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 19:00, and Sundays and holidays from 10:00 to 14:00. During the October to May period, hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 18:00, with Sunday and holiday hours remaining the same. The site is closed on Mondays and on December 24–26, January 1, and January 6. Admission fees vary, with normal entry at €4.50 and reduced rates available for seniors, youth, and students. Free admission applies to children under 8, unemployed individuals, and ICOM members.
