A Coruna Cultural Heritage
2-day tour of A Coruna's historic sites and culture
View Itinerary →Roque Nublo, Las Palmas, and Tejeda in one day
A comprehensive one-day loop starting in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, exploring the historic Vegueta district, hiking the iconic Roque Nublo, enjoying lunch in Tejeda, and ending with sunset views at the Maspalomas Dunes.
Breakfast in Vegueta
Start your day with a traditional Canarian breakfast at a local café in the Vegueta district. Try 'bienmesabe' (almond cream) or fresh fruit with gofio.
Explore Historic Vegueta
Walk through the oldest neighborhood in Las Palmas. Visit the Santa Ana Cathedral, the Casa de Colón (Columbus House), and admire the colorful colonial architecture.
Drive to Roque Nublo
Drive north-east towards the interior mountains. The scenic route takes you through lush valleys and small villages. Note: Parking at Roque Nublo fills up early, so arriving by 12:30 is ideal.
Hike Roque Nublo
Visit the iconic volcanic rock formation. Hike the short trail to the base and up the stairs to the viewing platform for panoramic views of the island. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes.
Lunch in Tejeda
Head to the picturesque village of Tejeda. Enjoy a traditional lunch at a local restaurant. Must-try dishes include papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes) with mojo sauce, fresh goat cheese, and local wine.
Drive to Maspalomas
Drive south along the coast towards Maspalomas. The drive offers stunning coastal views and transitions from mountainous terrain to arid dunes.
Maspalomas Dunes
Explore the Maspalomas Nature Reserve. Walk along the wooden boardwalks through the golden sand dunes. This is a great spot for photography and enjoying the unique ecosystem before sunset.
Sunset at Playa del Inglés
Relax on the beach or grab a drink at a beachfront chiringuito (beach bar) to watch the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean, ending your day on a high note.
Where to stay: Since this is a 1-day itinerary, accommodation is not included. However, staying in Las Palmas offers easy access to the north, while staying in Maspalomas is better for the south. For a 1-day trip, returning to your hotel in either location after the loop is feasible.
Getting around: A rental car is essential for this itinerary. Public transport is limited and slow, making it difficult to cover all locations in one day. Parking is available at Roque Nublo (paid) and Maspalomas (paid).
