The Alcázar de los Condes de Zamora, now known as the Palacio de los Condes de Alba y Aliste, is a historic Renaissance palace located at Plaza Viriato 5 in Zamora. Built in 1459 by Enrique Enríquez de Mendoza on the site of a former Muslim fortress, the building has a rich history that includes surviving the Comunero Wars and a devastating fire in 1653. It later served as a correctional facility and orphanage before being converted into the Parador de Zamora hotel in the 1960s.

The palace is renowned for its striking Plateresque facade, adorned with intricate coats of arms and mythological figures. Inside, it houses the Museo de Zamora, which features an exceptional collection of Flemish tapestries, ancient Celtic torques, Visigothic artifacts, and medieval ceramics. The museum offers visitors a glimpse into the region's diverse cultural heritage, from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages.

Visitors can explore the museum and the palace grounds, which are open to the public. However, as the building also functions as a hotel, access to certain areas may be restricted. It is advisable to check the current opening hours and any specific visiting guidelines before planning a trip. The combination of historical architecture and artistic treasures makes the Palacio de los Condes de Alba y Aliste a significant cultural landmark in Zamora, offering a unique experience for those interested in history and art.
