Casa de Colón

Casa de Colón is a museum and research institution in Vegueta, the historic centre of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The complex incorporates former governors' residences near the cathedral and is traditionally associated with Christopher Columbus's stop in the Canary Islands during his first Atlantic voyage in 1492. Rather than presenting the building as a preserved private home, the museum uses its rooms and courtyards to explain navigation, Atlantic exploration, the development of Las Palmas, and the long relationship between the Canary Islands and the Americas.
