La Savina Village

La Savina is the primary port village and main entry point for visitors to Formentera, Spain. Located at the western end of the island, it serves as the central hub for all boat arrivals from Ibiza and Denia. Originally established in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to support salt exports and provide shelter for boats, the village has evolved into a vital tourism hub.

Visitors arrive via a large marina that accommodates ferries, private boats, and recreational vessels. The area features a renovated maritime station where tickets can be purchased and snacks obtained. The port is protected by dykes against sea storms and extends from Estany des Peix to Sa Sequi.

The village offers extensive services, including a variety of bars, restaurants, hotels, and shops. A small hippie market operates along the promenade, adding to the local atmosphere. La Savina is also a key base for water sports and boat rentals, allowing easy access to the island’s beaches and coves.

Geographically, the village is strategically positioned near the Ses Salines Natural Park. It is located just three kilometers from Sant Francesc Xavier, the island’s capital. The annual local fiestas, held on July 16 in honor of the patron saint, Virgen del Carmen, highlight the community’s cultural traditions. For travelers, La Savina provides the essential logistical starting point for exploring Formentera, combining historical maritime significance with modern tourist amenities.
