Cueva de los Verdes

Cueva de los Verdes is a visitor cave in northern Lanzarote, within the municipality of Haría. It forms part of the volcanic tube created by the La Corona eruption, a system of galleries that extends for more than seven kilometres and continues toward the coast and beneath the sea. Local people used the caves as shelter during raids in the 16th and 17th centuries. In the 1960s, artist and lighting designer Jesús Soto adapted part of the tube for visits while emphasizing the rock's natural shapes, colours, and depth.

The guided route covers about one kilometre on foot across different levels of the tube. Visitors encounter uneven ground, stairs, narrow passages, and low ceilings, as well as an auditorium formed within the volcanic galleries. Entry is organized by timed reservation, and the official operator advises arriving before the booked slot. The route is not adapted for reduced mobility and may not suit visitors with claustrophobia. Comfortable footwear with non-slip soles is recommended. Cueva de los Verdes and nearby Jameos del Agua occupy different sections of the same volcanic system, but they are separate visitor attractions with separate access.
